Pharmacological properties
Florfenicol is a synthetic bacteriostatic antibiotic, active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms: Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Pasteurella multocida, Haemophilus spp., Proteus spp., Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Bordetella spp., Mycoplasma spp. It is active against acetyltransferase-producing strains. Mechanism of action: blocking of action of peptidyl transferase by binding with 50-S ribosomal subunit, which leads to the inhibition of protein synthesis in bacterial cell. Methyluracil is a pirimidine derivative. Normalizing nucleic acid metabolism, it stimulates cellular regeneration processes in the wound, accelerating the growth and maturation of the granulation tissue and epithelialization. FLOMECOL® is not absorbed from the application surface, does not possess local irritant action.
Indications
Treatment of skin pathology (wounds, ulcers, burns, etc.) in livestock animals, cats and dogs.
Dosage
FLOMECOL® is applied after pre-treating with antiseptic, 1-2 times a day, topically on affected areas of skin with a thin even layer using a cotton swab (spatula) or with sterile gauze impregnated wipes, which loosely fill wound. Duration of treatment is not more than 10 days.
