Leaders of Agribusiness Determine the Key Aspects of Dairy Farming Development

On 26 March, Yekaterinburg hosted a specialized seminar “High productivity of dairy cattle: genetics and maintenance” organized by Agroplem laboratory in partnership with VIС Group and the Urals Livestock Breeders Association. The event was part of the “Leaders of Agribusiness” project and brought together more than 150 industry professionals, including delegates from the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, senior executives of agricultural businesses and leading experts.

Olga Abramova, Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, opened the event by naming the country’s priorities in developing dairy cattle breeding: “Pedigree breeding in the livestock farming industry is coming to the fore. By 2030, our production volume should reach 38.5 million tonnes of milk a year. To hit this target, the government is ready to reimburse up to 70% of the cost of genetic research in bovine cattle. The maximum subsidy in 2025 will be RUB 4,200 per animal."

Olga Abramova announced the launch of a national breeder value index and transition to DNA testing instead of immunogenetic testing. Starting in 2026, all livestock breeding farms will be required to register animals in the unified breeding resource system – FGIAS PR. This may help Russia increase the output of high-yield pedigree cattle and reduce its dependence on imported genetic material.

Experts from VIC Group spoke at the seminar on a number of relevant topics. Evgeny Lyusin, Deputy Director of Livestock Farming Promotion Department, told about the prevention and treatment of parasitic diseases, offered a detailed look at the risk factors and disease control methods, and demonstrated several effective tools used by VIC Group. He also presented a new product, PAROMOFOR 70 – an innovative paromomycin-based medicine intended for prevention and treatment of parasitic diseases in calves. Clinical studies have demonstrated its high effectiveness in combating cryptosporidiosis and other diarrhoeal pathogens.

Petr Boyarinov, veterinary consultant from the Livestock Farming Division, gave a report on current methods for combating mastitis in bovine cattle. Tackling this problem requires an integrated approach, from laboratory studies and rotation of disinfectants to gradual and regular personnel training. The speaker proposed a pipeline of antibacterial suspensions from VIC Group, including TIOCEFUR LONG and STREPTOVIC LONG, as effective medicines against mastitis and other diseases.

The audience asked numerous questions about the products presented and expressed their appreciation of this opportunity for a live conversation with practicing experts.

The “Leaders of Agribusiness” project is a discussion platform for executives and specialists of leading agricultural businesses to exchange their experience.
