Pharmacological properties

Ofloxacine possesses a wide spectrum of activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria: Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp., Campylobacter spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Haemophilus spp., Staphylococcus spp. and Mycoplasma spp. Mode of action: inhibition of DNA-gyrase activity, which affects DNA replication in the nucleus of bacterial cell. Indications: treatment of diseases of respiratory system, gastrointestinal tract, urinary system, arthritis, salmonellosis, streptococcosis, septicemia, enteritis, peritonitis, primary and secondary infections, caused by fluoroquinolone-sensitive microorganisms, in calves, goats, lambs, pigs, cats, dogs and poultry.

By individual or group method during 3-5 days at following doses:

• calves, goats, lambs, pigs, dogs and cats: 0.5 ml of solution/10 kg bw/day with drinking water or milk replacer.

• broilers, broiler breeders and turkeys: 50 ml of solution/100 L of drinking water/day.

In case of salmonellosis, mixed infections and chronical diseases dosage is 100 ml of solution/100 L of drinking water/day for 5 days.
