Pharmacological properties

Tylosin is an antibiotic of macrolide group, which possesses bacteriostatic action against the majority of gram-positive and some gram-negative bacteria, including Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Corynebacterium spp., Clostridium spp., Pasteurella spp., Erysipelothrix spp., Fusiforms spp., Spirochaetas spp., Chlamydia spp., Treponema hiodysenteriae and Mycoplasma spp. Mechanism of action: inhibition of protein synthesis in bacterial cell.


• Treatment of bronchopneumonia in cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, dogs and cats.

• Treatment of enzootic pneumonia, dysentery, arthritis, atrophic rhinitis in pigs.

• Treatment of contagious agalactia in sheep and goats.

• Treatment of mastitis in cows.

• Prevention and treatment of secondary infections upon virus diseases.


The drug is administered to animals in the form of intramuscular injections once a day for 3-5 days as follows: Cattle – 4-10 mg of tylosin/kg bw; Pigs – 2-10 mg of tylosin/kg bw; Sheep and goats – 5-10 mg of tylosin/kg bw; Dogs and cats – 2-10 mg of tylosin/kg bw.
