Pharmacological properties

Azithromycin is a bacteriostatic antibiotic, active against wide spectrum of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms: Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Actinobacillus lignieresi, Mannheimia (Pasteurella) haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Legionella pneumophila, Haemophilus spp., Moraxella spp., Bordetella spp., Campylobacter spp., Fusobacterium spp., Salmonella spp., Escherichia coli, Listeria spp., Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Clostridium perfringens, Chlamydia spp. and Mycoplasma: M. bovis, M. hyopneumoniae, etc. Mechanism of action: binding to the 50S-subunit of the bacterial ribosome, thus inhibiting translation of mRNA. In high concentrations possesses bactericidal effect.


Treatment of diseases of respiratory system, gastrointestinal tract, urinary system, skin and soft tissues, caused by azithromycin-sensitive microorganisms, in cattle, sheep and pigs.


Cattle, sheep and pigs: once, intramuscularly at a dose of 1 ml of solution per 20-40 kg bw (i.e. 2.5-5.0 mg of azithromycin/kg bw). In severe cases of pulmonary diseases: second injection after 3-5 days.
