SPECIALISTS OF THE VIC GROUP PARTICIPATED IN SEMINARS HELD AT MOSCOW VETERINARY ACADEMY NAMED AFTER K.I. SCRYABIN

On October 29 and November 12 the seminars on treatment and prevention of farm animals and poultry diseases were held at Moscow State Academy of veterinary medicine and biotechnology named after K. I.Scriabin. The seminar was attended by the 5th-year students specializing in biology and pathology of cattle, horses, pigs and poultry of the veterinary medicine and biotechnology department. The opening remarks for the seminars were made by Sergey V. Kuznetsov, Deputy Dean of the veterinary medicine department.

On October 29, Evgeny Lyusin, a lead specialist in animal husbandry of the VIC group, spoke on the topics: "Veterinary and technological aspects of cattle mastitis treatment" and "Practical experience in the treatment and prevention of bovine cattle coccidiosis". The cattle disease distribution in modern animal husbandry, the main factors of diseases occurrence and spread, the importance of bacteria associated with animals and the environment in the cattle mastitis nosogeny, practical experience in the sick animals treatment were considered. Sergey Sedov, leading veterinary advisor of the VIC group poultry department, presented on the topic: "Control of salmonella infection in poultry". The speaker reviewed the classification of salmonellosis, routes of infection, clinical and pathoanatomic manifestations. Special attention was paid to methods of monitoring salmonellosis in poultry farms, risk factors and measures to prevent infection were considered. Specialist of the hygiene and sanitation department, Candidate of Veterinary Science Mark Ivanov reported on a topic relevant for many farms – "External and internal bioprotection as the basis for favorable environment at a poultry enterprise". He emphasized the need to ensure maximum biosafety of the pig complex, which reduces the consequences of possible contagion inside the complex and prevents carrying of infection from the outside. It was important for the undergraduates to see the practical application of the acquired knowledge, which in future work will allow them to build a high-quality prevention system aimed at preventing contact of pathogens with poultry. Further in his speech, Mark Ivanov spoke about deratization and disinsection, about tools, rules, documentation, issues related to vermins, and methods of their successful control in practice. On November 12, the workshop was held remotely via the ZOOM platform. Maxim Biryukov, leading veterinary advisor of the pig breeding department of the VIC group, Candidate of Veterinary Science, made presentations on Neonatal diarrhea of piglets (rota-, coronavirus, colibacteriosis, clostridiosis and coccidiosis of pigs) and on Streptococcal infections of piglets. The presentation considered in detail the etiology, pathogenesis, clinical progression of diseases, pathoanatomic changes, as well as the main aspects of diagnosis, prevention and therapy for these types of pathology. Emphasis was placed on the features of infectious diseases in piglets and the main factors affecting the epizootic process progression. The Academy undergraduates listened with interest and made notes of the main presentation points, which could be useful straight away at the training practice in farms. It's worth noting that in their presentations, the specialists of the VIC Group talked not only about diseases and biosafety, about practical schemes and methods of work, but also focus the students' attention on the fact that the veterinary profession is currently in high demand, that it is an advanced professional field that requires serious fundamental knowledge. At the end of the seminars, the advisors showed a film about the modern pharmaceutical plant and the operation areas of the VIC group. The Dean of the veterinary medicine department thanked for the VIC group for the joint work on training veterinary specialists-to-be and wished success and dynamic development of cooperation with the Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology named after K.I. Scriabin.
