VIC Group launches a plant to produce innovative veterinary medicines in Vitebsk

VIC Group’s production facility in Vitebsk, VIC Animal Health, has launched a new plant for producing sterile suspensions and powders used for treating farm animals.

Initially, 13 products in three dosage forms will be produced here. In 2024, it is planned to produce 214,000 vials of sterile injectable suspensions, 660,000 anti-mastitis suspensions in syringes, and 142,000 vials of sterile powder. The range will be expanded as new products are developed.

“The choice of product types for production is not random: previously we had to close the gap by importing similar products from abroad. The new plant will allow us to minimize and then completely eliminate our livestock industry’s dependence on European and American veterinary medicines”, said Ilya Kurganov, Director of the company.

For the most critical manufacturing operations, a restricted access barrier system (RABS) has been introduced to protect the products: employees wear gloves to work through glove ports. The company thus guarantees manufacture of high-quality products that meet all requirements for medicinal products on both in domestic and foreign markets. Almost 90% of the medicines produced at the Vitebsk facility will be supplied to EAEU countries.

“The enterprise fulfils huge tasks, using modern equipment, producing innovative medicines, and creating new jobs in the region. This is a major contribution not only to the country’s biological well-being but also to import substitution, as well as of export potential development”, emphasized Alexander Subbotin, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

While finalizing high-tech production of injectable suspensions, VIC Group is also preparing for another investment project –construction of a new plant for solid dosage forms as granules and powders. Production is to be launched at the end of 2025.

Reference: Established in 2000, the Vitebsk facility of VIC Group currently produces 94 products for farm animals and poultry, as well as 68 products for pet care. The company’s products comply with global and Russian GMP standards, as is confirmed by various certificates. The new plant is designed to produce 75 tonnes of output a year.
