Topical issues of biosafety in the poultry industry

On March 1, Russian poultry Union hosted an online conference "Topical issues of biosafety in the poultry industry and ensuring the production of safe veterinary and sanitary poultry products".

Mark Ivanov, a leading specialist of the Hygiene and Sanitation Department of VIC Group, told about ways to ensure external and internal biosecurity - factors that can actually exclude the occurrence of diseases at poultry enterprises.

He noted that only an integrated approach to biosafety could help to achieve efficiency. It includes compliance with the rules of personal hygiene by employees, handling of transport, organization of sanitary inspection, cleaning and disinfection of premises using modern means, ensuring the quality of water for poultry, elimination of flies and rodents. The fulfillment by employees of the necessary hygiene requirements is one of the main conditions preventing bacterial contamination.

An audit will help to assess the current state of biosecurity at the enterprise and get recommendations for improving the situation.
