VIC GROUP HELD TECHNICAL SEMINARS IN SVERDLOVSK REGION

image001.jpgOn 24 May 2018, specialists of VIC Group together with specialists of Zoetis held the 2nd annual technical seminar on "Modern approaches to the treatment and prevention of cattle diseases". The event was held in the country club of Sverdlovsk region. More than 60 specialists of veterinary and zootechnic services from Permsky Krai, Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions visited the event.

Traditionally, M. Rychkov, Yekaterinburg branch manager, opened the seminar. He delivered a welcome speech, gave detailed information on modern pharmaceutical production of VIC Group and invited the participants to visit the manufacturing sites.

I. Kozikov, Livestock Consultant of VIC Group, made reports on "Methods of treatment of mastitis in cattle" and "The alternative approach to the treatment of fresh cows". The reports reflected the most urgent problems related to the diseases of reproductive organs and mammary glands in cows, these problems significantly reduce the profitability of dairy industry. The speaker proposed a comprehensive program for handling these problems using therapeutic and preventive schemes based on drugs manufactured by "VIC Animal Health":

  • image004.jpgEnroflon®, foaming tablets for the treatment and prevention of postpartum complications;
  • Tiocefur®, an antibacterial drug for the treatment of respiratory diseases and necrobacillosis in cattle;
  • Oxylong® 20% retard, an antibacterial drug for the treatment of gastrointestinal tract and musculoskeletal system;
  • Flexoprofen®, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug for the treatment of inflammatory diseases and pain syndrome.

RILEXINE (Virbac, France) was also brought to the attention of the participants as a solution for dealing with mastitis. The product is represented by two drugs on the basis of cefalexin:

  • Rilexine 200, for the treatment of mastitis during a lactating period;
  • Rilexine 500, for the treatment and prevention of mastitis during a dry period.

E. Lusin, Livestock Consultant of VIC Group, highlighted the topical issues of modern livestock industry, which concern gastrointestinal and respiratory diseases of calves and parasitic diseases.

image003.jpgThe reporter spoke of well-known drugs for the treatment and prevention of gastrointestinal diseases: Oxylong® 20% retard is a tetracycline antibiotic, the prolongation lasts for 96 hours; Sulteprim® oral powder is an antibacterial drug, contains oxytetracycline hydrochloride, sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim. Toltrax 5% is a coccidiostatic drug used for the treatment and prevention of coccidiosis in calves from the age of 5 days, contains tolturazuril.

S. Kuznetsov, Leading Specialist of the Hygiene Division of VIC Group, made a report on "Systematic treatment of udder before and after milking for the prevention of mastitis". The report addressed washing and disinfection of production premises, udder hygiene before and after milking. A comprehensive hygiene program aimed at dairy cattle husbandry was presented to the audience. There were also presented effective detergents and disinfectants: Diseptin, Lactic, Lactic Deep, etc.

V. Kumarin, Head of the Livestock Department of the Feed Division of VIC Group, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, spoke of the prevention of heat stress in cattle by diet correction. The report presented a comprehensive program aimed at normalization of ruminal digestion with the use of yeast probiotics and drugs containing selenium.

  • Levucell SC Plus is an yeast probiotic, improves the digestibility of feed in the rumen;
  • Alkosel R397 is an antioxidant containing selenium.

V. Kuzin, Manager of Antibiotic Free Project, made a report on "System organization to monitor the compliance with the rules of drug circulation in a livestock complex". He spoke of the need to organize the system for monitoring the compliance with the rules of circulation and storage of veterinary drugs. He also gave information on how to organize the rational use of veterinary drugs.

At the end of the seminar, a round table was held. There, the specialists of agricultural enterprises and representatives of veterinary pharmaceutical companies discussed advantages and technological aspects of the use of therapeutic and preventive drugs, disinfectants and feed additives in order to address urgent issues concerning livestock industry.
